Bloom Spikes Offer Unique Take on Flowering Evergreens

Why Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush?
A lower spreading silhouette meets evergreen foliage for a plant that fits in any garden. Even better? The Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush is set apart by its deep red, brush-like floral spikes that cover this shrub from spring into summer, giving it its name and offering season-after-season visual interest.

And its dense branching boasts aromatic blue-green leaves for even more beauty. So, the blooms aren’t the only interesting feature of the Little John – its foliage also gives off a sweet citrus scent when crushed! Plus, since its versatile, compact size is ideal for any area, you’ll get the benefits of good looks, drought tolerance and soil adaptability wherever you plant your Little John.

And our hard work means that you reap the rewards, all without effort or hassle. You can expect these benefits and more from your Little John as a result. Order your own Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush, before it’s gone!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Ensure you plant your Little John in a reliably sunny area (one that receives 6 to 8 hours of sunlight a day) and in well-drained soil. Once you’ve selected your location, dig a hole that’s two to three times the size of your shrub’s root ball, place your Little John Bottlebrush, then back fill the soil while tamping down the soil to avoid air pockets. After planting, water your shrub to settle its roots adequately.

2. Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish its root system, about once per week. You can reduce the frequency of watering once the plant is established. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check its surrounding soil, down to about 2 or 3 inches. If the soil is dry in this area, it’s time to water your plant.

3. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer to your shrub in early spring for best results.

4. Pruning: Prune to shape your shrub after flowering, at some time during the summer season.
